December 9, 2009 - The spokesman of the G77, Sudanese Lumumba Stanislaus Kaw Di Aping, has attacked the Copenhagen draft agreement prepared by the Danish Presidency.

"The Danish prime minister is desperate but should not confuse his political career with a deal at any price. There must be a compromise between the will of the rich and poor countries," said the spokesman of the G77 plus China, representing developing countries.

He complained that the draft is designed by and for rich countries and accused Denmark of siding with the developed countries instead of seeking points of agreement between the two blocs: "Developed countries have an historical responsibility for having damaged the atmosphere during the last 200 years. "

November 30, 2009 - The future of mankind depends on the issue of the United Nation Climate Change Conference that will be held in Copenhagen from December 7 to December 18, affirms writer and environmentalist Bill McKibben, and many see this 12 days summit as a more important event than the 1945 Yalta conference.

While the UN, the ICCP and the WWF are calling world leaders to make all the necessary efforts to reach an agreement on greenhouse gases reduction at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change which will be held in Copenhagen in December (read Global Warming In The Arctic Above All Predictions), some scientists still dare to express opinions that conflict with the prevailing scientific opinion.

Ever heard of Coccolithophores? Despite their small size and their weird name, these tiny single-celled marine organisms are major regulators of global climate.

Most of the models used to predict climate change are based on ocean level, carbon dioxide and temperature measurements but fail to integrate marine ecosystems in their projections.

Actually, the whole process of climate and gas regulation by marine organisms is so complex that it is quite impossible to integrate in already complex models...and much more impossible to explain in details in this artile. WASHINGTON (AFP) - India has warned against rich nations using climate change as a pretext for protectionism as the United States and France consider imposing environment taxes.

India's chief climate negotiator, Shyam Saran, was in Washington for talks with the new administration of US President Barack Obama, whom he praised for putting a new emphasis on halting the warming of the planet.

Energy Secretary Steven Chu -- hoping to ease concerns that climate action would worsen the US recession -- has suggested slapping a tariff on imports from nations that do not require emissions cuts to "level the playing field."

French President Nicolas Sarkozy seconded the view on Tuesday, saying he favored a carbon tax on imports from countries with lower environmental standards than his own.

Saran, addressing the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said: "Most developing countries will argue that we are already starting with a very unlevel playing field."
