Michael Jackson Reported Dead Of Heart Attack.

June 25, 2009 - Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times.]

Jackson was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center this afternoon by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

Fire Capt. Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson's home at 12:26 p.m. He was not breathing when they arrived. The paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and took him to the hospital, Ruda told The Times.

Iranian Revolutionary Guards Threaten The Press and Bloggers

June 17, 2009 - The Iranian government is taking a new step today in its strategy of harassment against the press and bloggers, as the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution requires all Internet sites and blogs to remove from their pages any content that may "create tensions" and threaten of "legal actions" whoever attempts to circumvent the order.

June 12, 2009 - Update: Influenza pandemic alert raised to phase 6
On the basis of available evidence and expert assessments of the evidence, the scientific criteria for an influenza pandemic have been met. The Director-General of WHO has therefore decided to raise the level of influenza pandemic alert from phase 5 to phase 6. "The world is now at the start of the 2009 influenza pandemic," she said at a press conference today.

SKY NEWS: Terror Names Linked To Doomed Flight AF 447

June 10, 2009 - Among all the speculations around the cause of the Air France 447 accident (computer failure, frozen airspeed sensors), the terrorist attack has never been totally ruled out, but as the Sky News journalist says, the finding in the AF447 passengers list of the names of radical Muslims could simply be a "macabre coincidence".

Lebanon Election: And The Winner is....Saad Hariri

June 8, 2009 - The anti-Syrian (and pro-Western) coalition led by Saad Hariri (son of assassinated Prime Minister) won the parliamentary elections on Sunday. According to last estimation, the coalition would obtain 68 seats in the next parliament, on a total of 128. The Hezbollah and its allies only obtain 57 seats.

It is a setback for the Hezbollah, especially since that victory, wider than expected, is supported by a participation rate of almost 55%, 10 points better than in previous elections.

Absolutely No Tracks In The Air France Tragedy

June 5, 2009 - Contrarily to what has been officially announced two days ago, the wreckages found by the Brazilian Air Force do not belong to the lost Airbus and the search efforts have to restart from scratch, without any clue about the crash location.

The 12-mile long fuel slick spotted from the air by Brazilian pilots turned to be oil spilled from a ship. And the piece of white debris that were thought to belong to the missing plane appeared to be pieces of wood, probably fallen from a ship.

Air France Crash Update: Metal Debris Belong To Missing Flight

A spokesman for the French Army's General Staff confirmed that the metal pieces and aircraft seats found yesterday by the Brazil Air Force belong to the Air France plane that disappeared on Monday.

Brazil Air Force found yesterday floating pieces of fuselage, stains of kerosene, a lifejacket and aircraft seats some 400 miles from the island of Fernando de Noronha.

Wreckage Found Possibly From Air France Lost Plane

The Brazilian Air Force has found metal pieces and loose seats in the Atlantic, more than 650 miles north from the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, in the north east of Brazil, but cannot confirm yet if they belong to the missing Air France 447 plane, as it would require retrieving a piece with a serial number or a specific mark to identify it as a part of the Airbus 330.

China Blocks Twitter 2 Days Before The Tiananmen Anniversary

The Chinese Government has blocked access to Twitter, Hotmail and Flickr two days before the anniversary of the massacre in the Tiananmen Square.

This Thursday will be the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, when on June 4, 1989, the tanks entered the Square to crush protests by students and workers.

China has never made public the list of victims of what qualifies as a "counterrevolutionary conspiracy."

Greenpeace Accuses Lula Of Financing The Destruction Of The Amazon

Greenpeace has released a 140 page report accusing the President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of funding farmers and meat business, considered as the biggest destroyers of the Amazon rainforest, through the National Bank of Economic and Social Development (BNDES).

The report says the National Bank has granted loans by billions of dollars to the livestock enterprises responsible for 80% of the deforestation: an hectare of the Amazon rainforest is destroyed every 18 seconds.

A 7.1 Magnitude Earthquake Struck Honduras

An earthquake of 7.1 magnitude on the Richter scale has caused at least one death and extensive damages in Honduras.

Apple Lets iPhone Update Automatically, Cut and Paste (Update 3.0)

Apple Inc. unveiled the third version of the iPhone operating system, adding long-requested features such as a cut-and-paste function and giving software developers new ways to make money on their applications.

Chile: Soldier Who Killed Victor Jara On Trial

After 36 years of silence, Jose Paredes, one of the soldiers who executed the theater director, poet and songwriter Victor Jara in September 1973, confessed his involvement and was arrested and brought to trial by order of Judge Juan Fuentes, who is investigating the case.

Paredes was a member of the squad that killed Victor Jara with 44 shots. Jara was arrested the day after the September 11, 1973 military coup along with 600 other students and academics from the University of the State who, disarmed, wanted to resist the military.
